MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE) national board of directors conducted its 5th regular monthly meeting on May 16, 2020 via virtual meeting with 15 officers and directors and six past presidents of the institute in attendance.
The meeting centered on the updates of the various activities and programs conducted by the institute during the time of pandemic. PICE supported the government thru the provision of equipment, PPEs and supplies, food and basic commodities to the public hospitals, local government units, health and PNP frontliners and to the people throughout the country and abroad where there is a PICE chapter in the area. As of May 2, 24,422 overseas Filipino workers had been repatriated by the goverfor the purpose as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Also discussed is the online membership information update campaign wherein the PICE members are encouraged to register and update its personal information through the form provided in the website and the fb official page. It added that the campaign will run until June 30, 2020 with weekly raffles and a grand draw for those that would register.
It was reported that a 6-day free webinar lecture series for its members was conducted on May 6-13, 2020 tackling the 6-areas of specialization of civil engineering. A lopsided attendance was recorded with positive responses from its members. A plan webinar series will again be conducted this June.
Despite of the pandemic, the board discussed its future plans to bring out the best year for its professional and student members and to stay strong to face the challenges ahead.
